Overview:

Nthanda Manduwi earned her Master of Science in Entrepreneurship from the Malawi University of Science and Technology in 2024. Her thesis examined how digital transformation can serve as a foundational opportunity for Malawi’s development by creating and refining public information management systems.

This research went beyond theory — it offered a model for using data-driven public systems to improve governance, foster entrepreneurship, and increase efficiency across development sectors. Nthanda made a compelling case for how governments and grassroots innovators can co-create tools that empower citizens, particularly in emerging economies.

Research Impact:

Inspired Kwathu Kollective’s ecosystem approach to innovation
Influenced the strategy and systems at Bien Corporation Africa, particularly in digital media and data aggregation
Informed her pan-African advocacy under Ntha Foundation for ethical digital transformation
Strengthened her policy analysis work and demography-informed perspective on how infrastructure, governance, and innovation intersect

1. Creation of IMS in Malawi
2. Adoption of IMS in Malawi
